AFYEL is a six-month intensive competency-building fellowship designed to prepare 60 outstanding young energy leaders each year to drive Africa’s clean energy future. The program delivers hands-on, practical learning across four key renewable energy technologies: Hydropower, Onshore Wind, Solar Power, and Bioenergy. Training is delivered through three core lenses: Engineering, Economics, and Finance.

Our mission is to equip the next generation of innovators, researchers, and professionals with the knowledge and skills to accelerate Africa’s energy transition and expand access to clean, reliable power.

We welcome applications from graduates, postgraduates, and PhD students in fields such as Physics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Energy Economics, Mechanical Engineering, Building/Construction Engineering, Physics and Solar Energy, or other related disciplines.

Successful fellows will gain practical expertise, mentorship, and career-shaping opportunities in renewable energy, while becoming part of a growing network committed to delivering an electrified and sustainable Africa.
